Remember how effective D.A.R.E. was from keeping teenagers from smoking weed? Neither do I! But it received hundreds of millions of dollars from various tax-based institutions at the state and federal level over the years to pull a Mr. Mackey (“Drugs are bad… Mmmmkay?”). There was also the infamous “this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs” fried egg PSA in the early ’90s that someone on Madison Avenue received a handsome holiday bonus for.
Australia has a new anti-marijuana mascot that’s being mocked all around the Internet this week. It’s called “Stoner Sloth” and it attempts to show how one acts after smoking marijuana or something.
Except not really. I don’t know a single stoner on that planet who has smoked themselves that stupid that they can’t distinguish between salad and salt.
Regardless, it makes for some top-notch unintentional humor. Stoner Sloth just wants to hang and order some Papa John’s and listen to some Sublime albums, you guys. Why can’t you be as chill as him?
The YouTube comments are absolute gold:
Meanwhile, people are calling Australia out for how whack the ads are:

Yo Aussie government, #stonersloth failed as an anti drug campaign but I bet you could make your money back tenfold if you create a series 😂
