This speech is almost a year old, but I just saw it for the first time over at High Times. It’s absolutely mind-boggling that the Federal government classifies marijuana in the same way as it does extremely dangerous narcotics like heroin and meth. Representative Steve Cohen of Tennessee’s 9th District gave an incredible pro-marijuana speech back in February in the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s heroin overdose. In the Congressman’s own words, “People don’t smoke marijuana and beat up their wives.”
It’s a must-listen if you’re into all the politics and conversation about legalizing the damn plant. C
