The 2024 NFL Season is in the books. Here is the way-too-early power rankings for the 2025 NFL season, with all 32 teams ranked worst to first.

These rankings include some projection on how a team’s offseason is going to go. For example, Myles Garrett demanding a trade from the Cleveland Browns is negatively impacting their ranking.

32. New York Giants

Julian Leshay Guadal- Imagn Images

Positives for this franchise are few and far between. It’s hard to see this team being competitive at all, and it’s far more likely that head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are fired midseason than it is that they’re playoff contenders. With John Mara owning the team, there’s no end to the futility in sight. They are the Detroit Lions of 20 years ago.

31. Cleveland Browns

Scott Galvin- Imagn Images

As bad as things are for the New York Giants, they’re almost that bad for the Cleveland Browns. Myles Garrett requested a trade this offseason, and while they say they aren’t going to trade them, I think it will ultimately happen. The good news is that will bring back much-needed draft capital that they can use to rebuild a team that desperately needs a franchise quarterback and more team speed on both sides of the ball.

30. New Orleans Saints

Jay Biggerstaff- Imagn Images

Years of neglecting to rebuild has finally come to roost for the New Orleans Saints. It seems reasonable that Derek Carr will be elsewhere next year somewhere, leaving the Saints with maybe the league’s worst quarterback situation. The roster is aging, full of holes, and uninspiring from top to bottom. It should be the worst season in New Orleans in a generation.

29. Tennessee Titans

Mark Lebryk- Imagn Images

In my opinion, the Titans are heading in the right direction as a franchise. But, with no quarterback that’s a surefire prospect in this draft, it’s hard to see this offensively challenged group taking a big step next year. That being said, the defense will continue to keep them in games.

28. New York Jets

Vincent Carchietta- Imagn Images

I’m not sure there’s a team in the league whose roster is more in flux for next year than the Jets. A complete teardown and rebuild is certainly possible. No matter what happens, they almost certainly won’t be good next season.

27. Las Vegas Raiders

Stephen R. Sylvanie- Imagn Images

The Raiders made a great hire at head coach by bringing in Pete Carroll. He’s got his work cut out for him in this rebuild, though. Don’t be surprised to see Carroll ask to have Maxx Crosby traded to load up on assets to help with that rebuild. This is another team where it’s hard to see them being competitive next year.

26. New England Patriots

Mark J. Rebilas- Imagn Images

No team upgraded their coaching staff more than the New England Patriots, who went from the overmatched Jerod Mayo to Mike Vrabel. There are a ton of holes on this team, but Drake Maye will win a game or two that the roster shouldn’t as he continues to develop into one of the NFL’s better quarterbacks.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars

Corey Perrine- Imagn Images

There are pieces on this roster that make you think that they could be the team that rebounds the most from a poor 2024. But, around those pieces are a ton of holes. They won’t be able to fill all of them this offseason.

24. Carolina Panthers

Bob Donnan- Imagn Images

It’s a huge offseason for Carolina, and they’re in position to upgrade their talent more than any team in the league. That being said, even a huge talent upgrade would have them in the bottom-third of the league in terms of talent. Ultimately, the season will once again be about how much progress Bryce Young shows.

23. Pittsburgh Steelers

Barry Reeger

Mike Tomlin has not had a losing season in his 18 years in Pittsburgh. 2025 will be his first. This roster is not good at all, they have to play a tough schedule, and they simply will not have the firepower to keep that streak going.

22. Indianapolis Colts

Grace Hollers- Imagn Images

Rumblings are that the Colts are looking to make a splash at quarterback this offseason. That makes sense, considering the jobs of head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard are at stake and they would rather not stake their employment on Anthony Richardsdon. If they do upgrade at quarterback, they could be a playoff team, “could” being the operative word.

21. Arizona Cardinals

Mark J. Rebilas- Imagn Images

The Cardinals are a team that could end up being much higher on these rankings at the end of the 2025 season. The pieces are there for them to make a jump. But, they’re playing in a pretty good division all of a sudden, they still need a pretty big infusion of talent, and it’s hard to project them any better than mediocrity.

20. Dallas Cowboys

Brett Davis- Imagn Images

A year ago, the Cowboys were coming off three straight 12-5 seasons. Playoff struggles aside, they were one of the better teams in the NFL. The 2024 season gave us more questions than answers. The Jerry Jones experience has moved into something that resembles parody. It’s just really hard to see this Dallas organization being functional enough to put a good team on the field next year, even if there is some talent throughout the roster.

19. Miami Dolphins

Sam Navarro- Imagn Images

The Dolphins absolutely need to get better in the trenches, they need Tua Tagovailoa to stay healthy, and they need a focused Tyreek Hill to reach their potential. What are the odds of all three of those things happening? Not great!

18. Atlanta Falcons

Bob Donnan- Imagn Images

Michael Penix will be handed the reins to the Atlanta offense that has the potential to be one of the league’s best. But, veteran additions to try to patch a bad defense didn’t really work in 2024, and they need a ton of talent on that side of the ball. I wouldn’t be surprised, per se, if they made the playoffs, but I wouldn’t pick them to do it, either.

17. Chicago Bears

Daniel Bertal- Imagn Images

Yes, the Bears were bad in 2024. But, the talent is there, and there’s no way the organization will be that dysfunctional again with an entire new coaching staff, right? Right?

16. Seattle Seahawks

Steven Bisig- Imagn Images

I feel good about Seattle being pretty solid in 2025. Mike MacDonald showed a lot of potential as a head coach, and the defense is very good. But, they have to fix the offensive line, and that’s the toughest unit in football outside of quarterback to fix. If they do that, they could absolutely be a team that wins a playoff game next year, with the other main factor being an uncertain quarterback situation.

15. Denver Broncos

Denny Medley- Imagn Images

The Broncos were fantastic relative to expectations in 2024. But, they won’t be sneaking up on anyone, and Bo Nix is probably a high-floor low-ceiling quarterback. That being said, getting to play a third-place schedule coming off of a ten-win season is a huge break. They will need the defense to be just as good and get a bit more consistency out of the run game to take the next step.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Kim Klement Neitzel- Imagn Images

I like Tampa Bay’s roster, I really like Baker Mayfield, and I really, really like GM Jason Licht. But, I do not trust Todd Bowles as a head coach at all. That, plus the impending free agency of a guy who I think is really important to them in Chris Godwin, keeps them out of the top ten. But, again, solid team and favorites in the NFC South.

13. San Francisco 49ers

Cary Edmondson- Imagn Images

This may be lower than some other people have the 49ers, and I understand that many are buying the dip, so to speak. But, to me, this is an aging roster with a quarterback who is much closer to average than he is great, and the sheer abundance of injury-prone players doesn’t inspire much confidence in me. That being said, if they stay healthy, and that’s a big if, they will be dangerous.

12. Minnesota Vikings

Denny Simmons- Imagn Images

The Vikings are almost certainly not going to repeat their 14-3 season. But, that won’t be the goal in Minnesota anyways. The goal will be to break a string of playoff disappointments. They hope that JJ McCarthy, a quarterback that knows a thing or two about getting teams over the playoff hump from his days at Michigan, is the quarterback to do just that. The roster is solid, though not as good as their 14-3 record suggests. They will be one of the most interesting teams in the league next season.

11. Los Angeles Chargers

Robert Hanashiro- Imagn Images

The way Justin Herbert’s season ended really left a bad taste in my mouth after he was so good all year in the regular season. Expect the Chargers to continue to work towards getting better in the trenches and possibly add difference-maker at the skill spots either in the draft or in free agency. If it clicks, they could definitely win a playoff game or two next year.

10. Washington Commanders

Amber Searles- Imagn Images

Some may say this is too low for a team that just made the NFC Championship Game, and I understand the sentiment. Jayden Daniels does appear to give this team a high floor, and a bunch of young players should theoretically improve. But, the roster doesn’t quite stack up with the top of the league, and they will be playing a second-place schedule in 2025 as opposed to a last-place schedule they played in 2024. That kind of thing makes a huge difference.

9. Los Angeles Rams

Kevin R. Wexler-Nort- Imagn Images

The Rams may go hot-and-cold in the regular season under Sean McVay. But, they always seem to play their best football in the playoffs, even if they come up short. That’s a dangerous team. The Rams were one play away from beating the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Divisional Round. They are absolutely Super Bowl contenders next season.

8. Green Bay Packers

Dan Powers- Imagn Images

2025 will be the third year in a row that Green Bay will have one of the most talented and youngest cores in the league. But, with that comes expectations. Another one-and-done or even two-and-out playoffs may not be acceptable next year. If they add a true number-one receiver, that could take this team to the next level.

7. Cincinnati Bengals

Sam Greene- Imagn Images

The Bengals may lose Tee Higgins this summer, though I think they ultimately bring him back. The defense was truly horrific in 2024, and they still went 9-8 playing a tough schedule. There’s no way that the defense can be that bad again, right? As long as the defense approaches the middle-of-the-pack, Joe Burrow has shown that’s all he needs to take a team deep into the playoffs.

6. Houston Texans

Jay Biggerstaff- Imagn Images

The Houston Texans have a massive weakness on the offensive line. The good news is, on paper, that’s really their only major weakness. There’s no reason they can’t get that fixed this offseason. If they do, they will have a roster on par with any team in the AFC.

5. Buffalo Bills

Tina MacIntyre-Yee- Imagn Images

Many may forget that 2024 was supposed to be a “reset” year in Buffalo. They played better than many expected given some talent losses from 2023, and there’s no reason to think they won’t be very good again. But, it is starting to feel like now-or-never for the Sean McDermott tenure in Buffalo. The fact that Philadelphia defense completely took apart Kansas City while his defense allowed the only 30-point game Kansas City had all year is not a good reflection.

4. Baltimore Ravens

Sam Greene- Imagn Images

We all know that, barring an injury to Lamar Jackson, the Ravens are going to be top-tier contenders. The only question this core still needs to answer is can they get it done in the clutch when it counts. So far, this core hasn’t been able to do so. They need to next year.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Mark J. Rebilas- Imagn Images

The Chiefs finished the season at 17-3, and one of those losses was a game in which all their key pieces sat at the end of the season. That needs to be kept in perspective, given how poorly they played in the Super Bowl. But, this is still a team that’s going to have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. That’s one of the best foundations in league history, and the rest of the roster is still talented. Obviously, they need to fix the situation at offensive tackle. But, with Rashee Rice coming back from an injury and possibly suspension, offensive tackle is the only real hole, assuming they resign Trey Smith. Mahomes had made the AFC Championship Game every year of his career. Next year shouldn’t be any different.

2. Detroit Lions

Kevin Jairaj- Imagn Images

The blowout playoff loss suffered at the hands of the Commanders due to a depleted defense overshadowed just how good Detroit was in 2024. The Eagles are being called the most complete team in football, and rightfully so. The Lions are right there with him when healthy. The loss of both coordinators and a plethora of assistant coaches is concerning. But, more than anything, coaches are a product of the talent they have to coach. The Lions have an abundance of talent, that’s for sure. It’s Super Bowl or bust for Detroit.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Mark J. Rebilas- Imagn Images

It’s very hard to go back-to-back. At the same time, there’s absolutely no reason that Philadelphia can’t do it if they stay healthy. That young defense should only get better this offseason, and you know that general manager Howie Roseman is going to nail the offseason. They are the Super Bowl favorites for next season.
