Breaking Down The 8 Most Likely NFL MVP’s

Here are eight most likely MVP winners for the 2024 NFL season through seven weeks.

After seven weeks, the NFL MVP race has really taken shape. These aren’t the top eight if the MVP race ended right now. Rather, it’s a projection of who could win the award after all eighteen weeks.

8. Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold

Season Stats: 109/164, 66.5%, 1,370 yds, 12 TD / 5 INT

Just a few months ago, Darnold was considered to be one of the biggest NFL Draft busts in recent memory. But, he’s played excellent football for a Vikings team that’s been as good as anyone. He’s probably a bit of a long shot, but he definitely has a path to winning the award if he keeps playing well and the Vikings keep winning.

7. Washington Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels

Season Stats: 127/168, 75.6%, 1,410 yds, 6 TD / 2 INT

Jayden Daniels has turned around the fortunes of the Commanders franchise faster than anyone could’ve predicted. It’s hard to argue that anyone has actually been more valuable to their team, but we all know that’s not how the award is really decided. If the Commanders win the NFC East, he will be in contention.

6. Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love

Season Stats: 110/179, 61.5%, 1,351 yds, 15 TD / 8 INT

Jordan Love missed two games early in the season, but he’s put up gaudy numbers since returning, and the Packers keep on winning. If he can cut down on the turnovers and lead the Packers to a NFC North title in the best division in football, he could win the MVP.

5. Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Joe Burrow

Season Stats: 159/226, 70.4%, 1,759 yds, 14 TD / 2 INT

The Bengals started the year 1-4, which overshadowed just how well Joe Burrow was playing. But, he’s throwing the ball as well as anyone in football this year. He has the pedigree voters are looking for, and is on pace to put up really good numbers. But, he will only be in consideration if the Bengals make the postseason

4. Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes

Season Stats: 127/187, 67.9%, 1,389 yds, 6 TD / 8 INT

Mahomes has not played up to the level of an MVP so far, and many of you will hate he’s on this list. But, he’s still one of the Vegas favorites for the award, and if the Chiefs go 17-0 or 16-1, Patrick Mahomes is likely winning his third MVP.

3. Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen

Season Stats: 119/189, 63.0%, 1,483 yds, 12 TD / 0 INT

The knock on Josh Allen was always that he committed too many turnovers, more than any quarterback in the league over the last few years. This year, he doesn’t have a single turnover so far, and he’s kept the Bills afloat. With a huge boost to his skill position group after the acquisition of Amari Cooper, Allen could absolutely put up the numbers needed to win the award.

2. Detroit Lions Quarterback Jared Goff

Season Stats: 128/174, 73.6%, 1,610 yds, 10 TD / 4 INT

Jared Goff has been absolutely on fire the last few weeks, and has thrust himself into the upper echelon of the MVP race. There’s no reason he won’t keep putting up huge numbers in the Lions offense, and if voters suffer from voter fatigue on Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, Goff could take advantage.

1. Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson

Season Stats: 135/198, 68.2%, 1,810 yds, 15 TD / 2 INT

Last year, Lamar Jackson won his 2nd MVP against a pretty weak field. This year, he’s been significantly better than he was last season, and his growth as a passer has been incredible. It’s his award to lose right now, and he could join Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, and Tom Brady as the only three-time winners of the NFL MVP.
