NFL Power Rankings Week 8: Ranking All 32 Teams From Worst To First Ahead Of Week 8

Week 7 of the NFL season has come and gone. Here are all 32 NFL teams ranked, worst to first.

Week 7 was a week that may end up being remembered more for the crushing injuries to key players around the league than it will be for the actual play on the field.

Here are all 32 NFL teams ranked worst to first as we head into Week 8.

32. Carolina Panthers (1-6)

Last Week: 40-7 (L @ Commanders)
This Week: @ Broncos

It’s one thing to lose to a Commanders team that looks destined for the playoffs. It’s another thing to get obliterated in a game that saw Jayden Daniels leave early on. The Panthers are a terrible franchise right now. They have few players you’d want to even keep in a rebuild.

31. New England Patriots (1-6)

Last Week: 32-16 (L @ Jaguars) (London)
This Week: Vs. Jets

The good news is that Drake Maye has now played well in both of his starts in the NFL. The bad news is pretty much everything else. Head Coach Jarod Mayo called the team soft, which is never something you want a head coach seven games into his career to be saying. We’re about as far away from the dynasty we saw for two decade as possible.

30. Tennessee Titans (1-5)

Last Week: 34-10 (L @ Bills)
This Week: @ Lions

Will Levis was held out in favor of Mason Rudolph, but Levis not sabotaging the team with terrible turnovers still wasn’t enough to get a win. The good news is that they played a really good first half on the road, leading 10-7 at halftime. The draft is only six months away, Titans fans.

29. Cleveland Browns (1-6)

Last Week: 21-14 (L Vs. Bengals)
This Week: Vs. Ravens

The Deshaun Watson era is likely over, as he tore his Achilles. The team may finally be able to play Jameis Winston, though they put in Dorian Thompson-Robinson before him on Sunday as Winston served as the emergency quarterback. Winston may win a few games and hurt their draft position, so you can see why they may want to play DTR, if he’s healthy. Nick Chubb returned and looked solid, all things considered.

28. Miami Dolphins (2-4)

Last Week: 16-10 (L) @ Colts
This Week: Vs. Cardinals

This was a game for the taking for the Dolphins, as Anthony Richardson was terrible. They may have won it had Tyler Huntley not left with an injury. It would’ve been a big win, too, as a 3-3 record wth Tua Tagovailoa set to return would’ve meant they were factors in the AFC Wild Card race. It’s much tougher at 2-4, though.

27. New Orleans Saints (2-5)

Last Week: 33-10 (L Vs. Broncos)
This Week: @ Chargers

That 2-0 start may as well have been a decade ago at this point. This team appeared to quit on Thursday night against the Broncos in a must-win game. The Saints have resisted a full rebuild since Drew Brees retired. It’s time, New Orleans.

26. Las Vegas Raiders (2-5)

Last Week: 20-15 (L) @ Rams
This Week: Vs. Chiefs

Antonio Pierce is not the answer, and Mark Davis should use the cash infusion from the Tom Brady minority stake to pay his buyout and ask Tom Brady to find him a real coach. The biggest question surrounding this team is whether Maxx Crosby will still be on it past the trade deadline.

25. New York Giants (2-5)

Last Week: 28-3 (L Vs. Eagles)
This Week: @ Steelers

The Giants never made re-signing Saquon Barkley as big of a priority as they should’ve. He reminded them just how good he is, outgaining the G-Men offense by himself, 176-119. The Daniel Jones era needs to come to an end. On the plus side, Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns may be the best one-two punch of any defensive line combination in the league.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)

Last Week: 32-16 (W Vs. Patriots) (London)
This Week: Vs. Packers

The Jaguars are absolutely playing better than they were earlier in the season, and their smash-mouth victory over the Patriots behind the legs of Tank Bigsby may provide them a road map for the rest of the season. This team is more talented than their terrible start suggests, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them get to 5-7 wins on the seasons.

23, New York Jets (2-5)

Last Week: 37-15 (L @ Steelers)
This Week: @ Patriots

Aaron Rodgers got his wish when they fired Robert Saleh two weeks ago, and got his wish again when they traded for Davante Adams. They’ve lost both weeks, and it looks to be like the Same Old Jets. Only this time, it’s with a quarterback well past his prime that appears to have limited leadership skills at this stage of his career. If they somehow lose to the Patriots, you may never see a more toxic situation in the NFL in their life.

22. Los Angeles Rams (2-4)

Last Week: 20-15 (W Vs. Raiders)
This Week: Vs. Vikings

Cooper Kupp is set to return on Thursday against the Vikings. That should give them a big boost on offense. At 2-4, they’re still just one game back in the loss column in the NFC West, and beating the Raiders was really important for giving them some hope in terms of getting back in the playoff picture.

21. Dallas Cowboys (3-3)

Last Week: Bye
This Week: @ 49ers

The Cowboys spent their Bye Week getting ready to play the struggling 49ers. If they can’t beat a depleted San Francisco team, they should be sellers at the deadline.

20. Arizona Cardinals (3-4)

Last Week: 17-15 (W Vs. Chargers)
This Week: @ Dolphins

They still can’t figure out how to consistently get Marvin Harrison Jr. the ball. But, they did recognize they could hurt the Chargers in the run game, and they stuck with it for most of the second half. That, plus a defense that didn’t allow a touchdown, allowed them to get a crucial win to keep them one back in the division. The offensive scheme in the passing game is pretty bad, though. Kyler Murray deserves better.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-3)

Last Week: 41-31 (L Vs. Ravens)
This Week: Vs. Falcons

A ten-point loss to the Ravens wouldn’t normally be reason to drop nearly ten spots from last week. But, losing Mike Evans to a hamstring injury for a few weeks and losing Chris Godwin for the season due to a dislocated ankle made Monday night a complete disaster.

18. Indianapolis Colts (4-3)

Last Week: 16-10 (W Vs. Dolphins)
This Week: @ Texans

A win is a win. But, they simply cannot continue to play Anthony Richardson over Joe Flacco if they want to be a playoff team. Completing just over 40% of your passes just won’t cut it in the NFL.

17. Denver Broncos (4-3)

Last Week: 33-10 (W Vs. Saints)
This Week: Vs. Vikings

The Broncos dominated a Saints team that quite obviously quit on their head coach sometime in the past few weeks. But, those kind of wins are hard to come by in the NFL. The defense that allowed 70 points in a game to Miami last year has developed into one of the league’s better units. It’s a unit capable of propping up Bo Nix and the offense.

16. Los Angeles Chargers (3-3)

Last Week: 17-15 (L) @ Cardinals
This Week: Vs. Saints

The foundation is there for the Chargers to quickly become one of the best teams in football. But, in order to do that, Jim Harbaugh must fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Roman has no idea how to get the most out of Justin Herbert and take advantage of his awesome skill set. They couldn’t muster a single touchdown against one of the league’s worst defenses. This was a game they may rue if they miss the playoffs.

15. Atlanta Falcons (4-3)

Last Week: 34-14 (L Vs. Seahawks)
This Week: @ Buccaneers

The Falcons came in as winners of three straight with a ton of momentum, and blew all of it. Not much more to say about that game other than it was a home dud. They need to beat a depleted Tampa Bay team playing on a short week in Week 8.

14. Seattle Seahawks (4-3)

Last Week: 34-14 (W @ Falcons)
This Week: Vs. Bills

Unlike the Falcons, the Seahawks came into Week 7 with no momentum, having lost three straight. But, the defense forced timely turnovers, Geno Smith took care of the ball, and they got a much-needed win ahead of taking on a tough Buffalo team. They’re back in first place in the NFC West.

13. San Francisco 49ers (3-4)

Last Week: 28-18 (L @ Chiefs)
This Week: Vs. Cowboys

This might be too high, but I can’t give up on the 49ers yet. That being said, with Deebo Samuel hospitalized with Pneumonia and Brandon Aiyuk out for the year, their loaded weapons group is all of a sudden one of the league’s worst. And, Brock Purdy showed he simply is not the kind of quarterback to get it done when his weapons aren’t elite. It’s a can’t-lose matchup against Dallas in Week 8.

12. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2)

Last Week: 28-3 (W Vs. Giants)
This Week: @ Bengals

The Eagles played much better than they did in Week 6 against the Browns, and dominated the Giants. Saquon Barkley continues to be a fantastic signing, and the defense played their best game of the year. The Bengals will provide a really interesting test.

11. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4)

Last Week: 21-14 (W @ Browns)
This Week: Vs. Eagles

The offense struggled for a second straight week. But, the progress made on defense is encouraging. Yes, weak opponent, but they were giving up a ton of points to anyone and everyone the from weeks 2-5. They’ve climbed out of the depths of despair of a 1-4 start. A win against Philadelphia would go a long way towards a playoff appearance.

10. Chicago Bears (4-2)

Last Week: Bye
This Week: @ Commanders

We may not get our Jayden Daniels-Caleb Williams matchup due to Daniels’ rib injury that could keep him out. That’s a shame, because it has been circled on many calendars for a long time. Chicago will look to extend their win streak to four.

9. Washington Commanders (5-2)

Last Week: 40-7 (W Vs. Panthers)
This Week: Vs. Bears

Jayden Daniels left with a rib injury that thankfully doesn’t appear to be serious, and the team didn’s miss a beat. The Panthers are pathetic, so that’s not as impressive as you’d think. Still, they could’ve panicked without their star, and did not.

8. Houston Texans (5-2)

Last Week: 24-22 (L @ Packers)
This Week: Vs. Colts

A beat-up offensive line and injured Nico Collins have really impacted CJ Stroud. He couldn’t even muster 100 yards through the air on Sunday. Still, they had a chance to win on the road against a contender, and they will get healthier. Until then, it could be a struggle on offense.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)

Last Week: 37-15 (W Vs. Jets)
This Week: Vs. Giants

The Steelers were outplayed by the Jets for the first 28-or-so minutes on Sunday night. The last 32 minutes were as good as you’ll see any NFL team play all year. Russell Wilson is a clear upgrade over the mediocre Justin Fields, and he unlocked George Pickens. Aaron Rodgers will be having nightmares about that Pittsburgh pass rush for a long time.

6. Green Bay Packers (5-2)

Last Week: 24-22 (W Vs. Texans)
This Week: @ Jaguars

Jordan Love brings many of the same elements to the table that Brett Favre did, good and bad. We saw both on display on Sunday. The star was the defense, who completely shut down CJ Stroud. This team is getting better and better. Their true potential will only be reached if Jordan Love starts taking better care of the ball, though.

5. Buffalo Bills (5-2)

Last Week: 34-10 (W Vs. Titans)
This Week: @ Seahawks

A sleepy first half gave way to a dominant second half that coincided with getting new acquistion Amari Cooper involved. There’s not much to get out of a game when the Bills are that much better than their opponent, though.

4. Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

Last Week: 31-29 (L Vs. Lions)
This Week: @ Rams

If you thought the Vikings’ 5-0 start was fraudulent, the way they played the Lions should change your mind. Yes, they lost, but they went toe-to-toe with the most talented team in the NFL. Sam Darnold rebounded nicely from an early interception and moved the ball consistently. For some reason, the Lions always get the best of defensive coordinator Brian Flores, but this team is absolutely a contender.

3. Baltimore Ravens (5-2)

Last Week: 41-31 (W @ Buccaneers)
This Week: @ Browns

Remember when the Ravens were 0-2? They’ve been the best team in football since. People often associate defense with the Ravens. But, with Lamar Jackson all of a sudden turning into a destroyer from the pocket alongside his other prodigious skills, and Derrick Henry becoming the best running back in football again, nobody can stop this offense the last five weeks. It would be hard to pick against them in a neutral site matchup against anyone.

2. Detroit Lions (5-1)

Last Week: 31-29 (W @ Vikings)
This Week: Vs. Texans

Pretty much everything said about the Ravens can apply to the Lions, as well. They overcame a slow start exacerbated by a strange Dan Campbell choice to fake punt to play nearly flawless football on offense the final three quarters and knock off an awesome Vikings team on the road. Only Lamar Jackson is playing better than Jared Goff right now, the offensive line is by far the league’s best, and the defense was very opportunistic. They need to make a move for a pass-rusher, but the team should make their first Super Bowl ever.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (6-0)

Last Week: 28-18 (W Vs. 49ers)
This Week: @ Raiders

The passing game is still a disaster, and Patrick Mahomes has more picks than touchdowns through six games. Oh yeah, they blew out the defending NFC Champions on the road. They’ve now won twelve straight dating back to last year, they may have the best defense in the league, the quarterback is still the best player on the planet, and they have the best head coach in the league. Until one of those things changes, they’re number one on this list.
