The 9 NFL QBs With The Most Fantasy Football Points Ever Scored In A Single Game

Most fantasy football players prioritize running backs and wide receivers over quarterbacks, but it’s pretty hard to stay competitive if you don’t have a talented passer on your roster.

Fantasy football has been “A Thing” since the 1960s, but you had to be a pretty diehard fan to get in on the action before the internet thrust it into the mainstream.

Pro Football Reference has an exhaustive archive chronicling fantasy stats that stretches back well before the now-beloved pastime was cool, and I decided to take a closer look at the QBs who’ve managed to score the most points in a single game after the man who now tops the list had a performance for the ages.

Josh Allen—51.88

Josh Allen already had a reputation as one of the most exciting QBs in the NFL before the Bills faced off against the Rams on December 8th, and he proved why that was the case with his record-breaking performance on the fantasy front.

Allen factored into every single touchdown the Bills scored with three passing TDs and another three on the ground (the first player in NFL history to do so) while racking up 342 passing yards and 82 rushing yards.

Unfortunately, his effort in the shootout wasn’t enough to propel Buffalo to victory in the 44-42 loss.

Michael Vick—49.32

Eagles QB Michael Vick

It’s not exactly shocking one of the most electric dual-threat QBs in NFL history held the top spot until being dethroned by Allen, as Michael Vick had himself a day when the Eagles faced off against Washington on November 15, 2010.

Philadelphia got the kind of performance they were relying on Vick to deliver during his first season as a starter during a game where he threw four TDs and rushed for two with 333 and 80 yards in both of those respective categories.

Unlike Allen, it was also more than enough to propel his team to a win, as the Eagles walked away with a 59–28 victory.

Mark Rypien—48.08

Mark Rypien may not be as well-known among most NFL fans as the first two guys on this list, but he was still a two-time Super Bowl champion with Washington who didn’t take a snap when they won in 1988 but secured MVP honors with his performance in The Big Game in 1992.

Rypien also became the QB with the most points in fantasy football history at the time a few months before he got his second ring, as he threw six touchdowns and racked up 442 passing yards along with a short TD run while helping his squad improve to 10-0 with a 56–17 win over the Falcons on November 10, 1991.

Peyton Manning— 46.28

Broncos QB Peyton Manning

It’s only natural one of the greatest QBs in the history of the NFL would show up toward the top of this list, and if you’re familiar with Peyton Manning, you won’t be shocked to learn he did it all with his arm.

In 2013, Manning and the Broncos kicked off the regular season with a bang with a 49–27 victory over the Ravens where the QB threw seven TDs (tying the NFL record) and recorded 462 passing yards.

His final point total is obviously nothing to scoff at, but it would have been even higher if he hadn’t taken a couple of knees to close out the half and the game.

Aaron Rodgers—45.92

In 2011, the Packers had one of the most impressive seasons in NFL history by going 15-1, and Aaron Rodgers also had one of the most impressive fantasy performances ever when the defending Super Bowl champions welcomed the Broncos to Lambeau Field on October 2nd.

Green Bay earned the 49–23 win in a game where Rodgers threw for 408 yards, had four passing TDs, and punched two more into the end zone while accruing a total of 36 yards with his legs.

There are only nine guys on this list, but it’s worth noting Rodgers rounds out the Top 10 when it comes to single-game fantasy performances by a QB with the 43.76 points he recorded against the Raideres in 2019.

Nick Foles—45.24

Nick Foles had a pretty fascinating career, as he never came close to reaching superstar status but repeatedly showed flashes of the brilliance he was never really able to sustain for an extended period of time.

We were treated to one of those dazzling displays when the Eagles headed to Oakland on November 3, 2013 for a showdown with the Raiders where Foles turned into a passing machine who threw for 406 yards and tossed seven touchdown passes to become the seventh NFL QB in history to achieve that feat (Drew Brees became the eighth—and currently last—in 2015).

He added ten rushing yards for good measure as the Eagles cruised to a 49-20 win.

Ben Roethlisberger—44.78

As was the case with Manning, Ben Roethlisberger wasn’t exactly known for his rushing prowess, but he didn’t need much help from his legs when the Steelers faced off against the Colts at home on October 26, 2014.

Big Ben lived up to that name with a monster performance where he threw for 522 yards and tossed six touchdowns. and Pittsburgh easily dispatched Indianapolis by a score of 51-34.

Drew Brees

Remember when I said Drew Brees threw seven touchdowns in a game in 2015? It was this one.

That record-tying achievement appropriately transpired on All Saints’ Day, as Brees also racked up 505 passing yards in an absolutely wild back-and-forth contest with the Giants where New Orleans kicked a field goal as time expired with the help of a costly penalty on the preceding punt return to eke out a 52-49 win.

Randall Cunningham—44

Every other QB on this list threw for at least 300 yards, but Randall Cunningham didn’t have to thanks to the two-pronged approach that made him a force to be reckoned with back in the day.

Cunningham “only” passed for 240 yards when the Eagles played the Patriots on November 4, 1990, but he threw 4 TDs to complement the 124 yards he gained on the ground while taking it to the house a single time.

He probably broke a sweat in a literal season, but Philadelphia didn’t really need to in a metaphorical one while dispatching the Patriots by a score of 48-20.
