At the end of the day, the game of basketball is about putting the ball in the basket and stopping the other team from doing the same. These ten players had the most pure scoring ability in NBA history.

Nobody could score Like Mike. His 30.12 points per game is the most in NBA history, and he could score in any and every way imaginable. Whether it was in transition, spotting up from three, or doing damage later in his career in the post, Michael Jordan was unstoppable.

Kevin Durant

When I think of pure scorers, the first name that comes to mind is Kevin Durant. Durant is a smooth operator from every spot on the floor. His shooting stroke is pure, he’s probably the best off-the-dribble shooter of all-time, and his advanced dexterity for his size allows him to finish well in the paint. Kevin Durant can get a bucket.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant’s game, in some ways, is a cross between the first two players on the list. Earlier in his career, he relied on his insane athleticism and dexterity to get to the rim at will and finish at high rates. As he got older, he became one of the best mid-range shooters of all-time and could get hot from three-point range as well. The late, great Kobe Bryant could fill it up.

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony is one of the most prolific isolation scorers of all-time. He was a fantastic pull-up player that could use his strength to get in the lane or hit a step-back. There wasn’t a spot on the floor that Melo couldn’t score from.

Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki revolutionized the power forward position with his fantastic scoring and shooting ability. His unorthodox high release made blocking his shot impossible, and his one-foot turn-around jumper was unstoppable. Dirk would’ve been even better in this era with more space.

Dirk’ one-foot turnaround jumper is one of the most unstoppable moves of all-time. What’s the most unstoppable move of all-time? Kareem’s sky hook. The defense was helpless to defend it. It came down to whether Kareem made it or missed it. That move, plus incredible athleticism early in his career and great footwork throughout allowed him to be the NBA’s all-time leading scorer for decades before LeBron James broke the record two seasons ago.

LeBron is more known for being an all-around player than a pure scorer. But, he’s the NBA’s all-time scoring leader for a reason. If you can think of a way a player could score, LeBron could do it. And, at 40, he’s shooting the ball from deep better than he ever has. No one has ever come anywhere close to LeBron’s output in an age 40 season. He’s truly one of a kind.

Wilt Chamberlain

There wasn’t a lot of variation to Wilt’s game on offense. But, in his prime, nobody in the history of the league could. get a bucket like Wilt could. He was simply so much more athletic than nearly every center in the league, and he completely dominated the paint. He and Michael Jordan are the only two players with averages of over 30ppg for a career.

Steph Curry

The greatest shooter of all-time can do much more than that on the offensive end. His shooting prowess allowed him to get in the lane, and he was a fantastic finisher given his size limitations. Ever since he was at Davidson, Steph Curry has known how to put the ball in the basket.

Tracy McGrady

McGrady’s career stats aren’t as good as the others on this list due to injuries that cut his prime short. But, in his prime, the two-time scoring champion could absolutely fill it up. A true three-level scorer, McGrady could make a defense pay in every way imaginable.
