The NBA MVP is one of the most prestigious awards in all of sports. These ten superstars could join the ranks of NBA MVP winners.
San Antonio Spurs Center Victor Wembanyama

This one is as obvious as can be. Wembanyama is already one of the NBA’s very best players in just his second season. The unicorn could win a half-dozen MVP’s. That sounds crazy, as only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has done it. But, Wembanyama, given his insane two-way dominance, has that kind of potential.
Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai is a pretty solid favorite to win MVP this season, as he’s had a sensational season this year, and voters are getting sick of voting for Nikola Jokic. If he somehow doesn’t win it this year, it’s hard to see him not getting one at some point.
Cleveland Cavaliers Forward Evan Mobley

Mobley, just 23, has emerged as one of the league’s premier two-way forces this year. His defensive impact is immeasurable, and if he can get to a 25ppg average in a future season, he could absolutely win an MVP.
Minnesota Timberwolves Wing Anthony Edwards

After a monstrous postseason last year, many expected Edwards to be a top-flight MVP contender this year. That hasn’t happened, but he’s the best young wing in the entire league, and could absolutely win an MVP in the very near future.
Orlando Magic Forward Paolo Banchero

Banchero is a three-level scorer that is also great on the glass and is an excellent passer for a big man. He needs to become a more efficient scorer, but the 22-year-old has MVP upside.
Boston Celtics Forward Jayson Tatum

Tatum is a perennial First-Team All-NBA selection on an excellent team. It’s not hard to understand why he’s going to be a top-tier MVP candidate for years to come.
New York Knicks Guard Jalen Brunson

With all due respect to Carmelo Anthony and Patrick Ewing, Brunson may be the best New York Knick since the 1970’s and Willis Reed and Clyde Frazier. Brunson has emerged as one of the very best players in the NBA in three years in the Big Apple. Given the media market, he could win one in the next few years.
Detroit Pistons Guard Cade Cunningham

Cunningham is the NBA’s breakout superstar of the 2024-2025 season, and the former number-one overall pick has the all-around game to be an All-NBA pick for the next decade. That means that he’s going to be in contention for an MVP at some point.
Oklahoma City Thunder Forward Chet Holmgren

Victor Wembanyama has overshadowed Chet Holmgren a little bit, but Chet is a fellow alien. Don’t let his solid-but-not-spectacular numbers from this season fool you. Holmgren has the potential and the pedigree to be one of the best two or three players in the world some day, with the potential to dominate on both ends. He could win one in the middle of a Wembanyama run, like Joel Embiid did during Jokic’s run.
Los Angeles Lakers Guard Luka Doncic

Did you think I forgot about him? Arguably the most gifted all-around offensive backcourt player is going to win MVP at some point in his career. He’s going to have a season that puts up such good numbers that is simply too good to ignore, defensive woes aside.
