Aaron Rodgers On Cusp Of Setting Infamous Record Amid Robert Saleh Firing

As the football world mulls over his role in the firing of former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, Aaron Rodgers now sets on the cusp of making some infamous NFL history.

See, Rodgers hasn’t just been bad since coming to New York and well prior. He’s been really bad.

How bad?

Well, in an era where teams are throwing the ball more than ever before, Rodgers has gone 28 games without eclipsing 300 yards passing.

As Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk reports, that number tied the record for most in a decade, alongside Josh Allen, Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor.

But wait, there’s more!

It is also just one game short of a record set by Byron Leftwich from 2004-2012 for the Falcons, Steelers and Bucaneeers.

Should Rodgers fail to eclipse 300 yards on Monday night against the Bills, the streak of 29 consecutive games will be just two short of Leftwich’s run of 31 over that span.

So, when was the last time Rodgers did throw for 300-plus yards?

That came on December 12, 2021 when the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears, 45-30.

Aaron Rodgers Still Isn’t Healthy As He Approaches Infamous Record

But beyond being washed, Rodgers is also not healthy. He tore his achilles in week one of the 2023 NFL season. And he recently revealed that the injury still isn’t 100 percent, despite speculation that he could have returned last year.

“I can’t say I’m bereft of some difficulties with the Achilles, but it’s a process. I feel better [from] Week 1 to Week 2, Week 2 to Week 3, and then we got a nice little gift there with the long weekend, so I feel better,” Rodgers recently told media members.

Then he suffered a separate injury earlier this season.

“I’m feeling a little banged up. Took some shots, knee is a little swollen but just kinda wear and tear, Week 4,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, October 1.

Robert Saleh is gone. But Aaron Rodgers remains. And that seems like a bad sign for fans of the New York Jets.
