Aaron Rodgers’ brain is truly a marvel to behold. On one hand, the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers roster is full of, as he called them, castoffs and afterthoughts. On the other hand, though, he is not one of those castoffs, despite being 42-years-old and cut by the New York Jets earlier this year.

During his press conference earlier this week following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Monday Night Football victory over the Miami Dolphins, Aaron Rodgers was detailing how the roster is built on players that were castoffs of other teams.

In his comments, Rodgers mentioned Kenneth Gainwell, Marques Valdez-Scantling, Connor Heyward, Adam Theilen, and Asante Samuel Jr. as some of those castoff players.

When asked if he was a castoff too, however, Rodgers bristled at the question and definitively/defiantly stated that he is not a castoff. The moment was reminiscent of the Rick James sketch from Chappelle’s Show in which he denies stomping on Charlie Murphy’s couch only to then admit to doing it moments later.

Through Week 15 of the 2025 NFL season, Rodgers has completed 66.8% of his passes for 2,594 yards, 22 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
