Aaron Rodgers Dealing With New Injury Other Than His Recently Repaired Torn Achilles

If their Week 3 win over the New England Patriots raised expectations and reignited hope for New York Jets fans, then Week 4’s loss to the Denver Broncos lowered and extinguished them, respectively.

In a disgusting 10-9 home loss to the Denver Broncos — who were quarterbacked by a rookie in Bo Nix who passed for just 60 yards — the Jets failed to score a single touchdown, marking the first time in Aaron Rodgers’ career that he failed to put up a TD when playing an entire home game.

More worrying than the loss and their 2-2 record, however, is the team has been playing, especially on offense, where the 40-year-old four-time Hall of Famer seems to be often under siege behind his shaky offensive line. The loss to the Broncos was particularly punishing for Rodgers, as he was sacked five times.

Speaking to Pat McAfee during his weekly Tuesday appearance on his radio show, Rodgers revealed that he’s feeling “a little banged up” and is dealing with swelling in his knee. The former Green Bay Packers signal-caller downplayed the nature of the injury, however, claiming it’s just regular “wear and tear.”

“I’m feeling a little banged up. Took some shots, knee is a little swollen but just kinda wear and tear, Week 4,” Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, October 1.

Rodgers’ head coach Robert Saleh — whom he recently claimed he had a “great” relationship — delivered a similar message when speaking to the media.

“From everything that I’ve gathered, it’s just a standard wear and tear of getting beat up a little bit yesterday,” Saleh said.

The Jets are going to need Rodgers to be as healthy and as sharp as possible this weekend as they’re heading across the Atlantic Ocean to London to take on the undefeated Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, October 6.
