Like virtually every other company/brand on social media on Monday, the New York Jets tried to hop on the Solar Eclipse engagement train. Unfortunately for Gang Green, however, their post set up franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers to get roasted.

The post is a picture of Rodgers sitting on the sidelines with a torn Achilles wearing sunglasses with his arms folded with the caption “Eclipse ready.” The photo was taken during the Jets 2023 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, given both Rodgers’ controversial beliefs and the fact that experts say not to look at an eclipse with only the protection of sunglasses, the tweet ultimately went viral due to people roasting the 40-year-old part-time quarterback and full-time conspiracy theorist.

One of the most popular jokes was that Rodgers doesn’t believe in things like the sun, the moon, or space, and that he “did his own research” into eclipses and decided to use his own method of solar immunization.

Some fans even think that the Jets’ social media team did this to Rodgers on purpose, as one person replied to the tweet by saying “it’s nice that his own team publicly recognizes that he’s an idiot.”

Heading into the 2024 season, Rodgers — who, according to Jets owner Woody Johnson, was “momentarily distracted” by reportedly being considered as Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s running mate — and the Jets will be looking to make good on the promise of the 2023 season, which ended in disaster before it even started as Rodgers tore his Achilles just four snaps into the campaign.
