With the New York Jets season in free fall due to a five-game losing streak, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has turned to the fountain of youth in order to help turn the season around.

According to ESPN’s in-house Jets reporter, 40-year-old future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers got a tip from punter Thomas Morstead that the “fountain of youth” can be found not out in the wild, but in your own kitchen by mixing cayenne pepper and water.

Rodgers — whom Patriots defensive lineman Davon Godchaux said this week “doesn’t look the same” — said that he’s been “gassing up” on the cayenne pepper and water combo ahead of the Jets’ Thursday Night Football game against the Houston Texans on Halloween night.

“Aaron Rodgers says Thomas Morstead has introduced him to ‘the fountain of youth’ — cayenne pepper and water. Rodgers says he’s ‘gassing up’ with it and feels great physically this week,” reported ESPN’s Jets beat reporter Rich Cimini.

Rodgers’ glibness about the Jets’ poor start is likely rubbing Jets fans the wrong way, as he also made cheeky comments about “going into the darkness” following the Jets’ loss to the New England Patriots in Week 8.

So far this season, his first as the Jets’ starting quarterback and one that began with Super Bowl expectations, Rodgers has completed 61.6% of his passes for 1,896 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.

With their record sitting at 2-6, the Jets will likely have to win at least seven of their final nine games in order to have a shot at qualifying for the AFC Wild Card. The Jets last nine games of the season are against the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Miami Dolphins (twice), Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, and Buffalo Bills.
