We all know that the league’s best quarterbacks typically have a say in many of the big-picture questions for an NFL offense. Veterans like Aaron Rodges essentially run an offense that they’ve designed.

But, according to at least one prominent NFL analyst, it might not be a good thing that Aaron Rodgers has this much influence on the Jets offense, judging by his previous history.

So far, the New York Jets offense has been pretty up and down. On some drives, they’ve looked incredibly crisp, the kind of drive that Jets fans haven’t seen regularly for decades. They’re the kind of drives that helped Aaron Rodgers win four MVP’s in Green Bay and made him one of the all-time greats.

But, the offense has mostly been clunky, short on explosive plays and creativity, the kind of creativity many of the league’s best offenses show on a weekly basis. While the team fired head coach Robert Saleh this week, he has a defensive background. The offensive coordinator, Rodgers’ longtime friend Nathaniel Hackett, remains, though he’s been demoted from his playcalling duties.

According to Ted Nguyen, the amount of influence that Rodgers has over the offense in New York is probably a bad thing for the Jets, based on his past.

Rodgers has always been great at the line of scrimmage making adjustments and audibles. But, maybe he’s not very good at getting the gameplan right throughout the week.

Things need to change for the 2-3 Jets offense starting this week against the Bills on Monday Night Football.
