When it became clear that Aaron Rodgers was set on leaving the Green Bay Packers this offseason, there was one big issue that likely concerned any teams interested in the star QB.

Nobody knew how much longer the former MVP would want to continue playing in the NFL.

The possibility of Rodgers retiring has been present in each of the last 3 offseasons.

That led to some concern that any team who traded for him would only be doing so for one year.

For a while, there was even talk that the New York Jets wanted the terms of their trade for Rodgers to include the picks they were trading to depend on whether or not Rodgers plays next year.

It turns out there might not have actually been anything to worry about for the Jets.

Their head coach already shared his belief that this wouldn’t be Rodgers’ only season with the team.

Now Rodgers seems to have confirmed it.

While speaking to the media today, Rodgers revealed that he doesn’t see this as a one year thing.

“Definitely some of it is how much fun I’m having. It’s all about the body, how the body feels,” Rodgers said. “The team gave up significant pieces for it just to be a one-year deal. I’m aware of that. Now, again, anything can happen with my body and with the success we have this year, but I’m having a blast. I don’t see this as a one year and done thing.”

It’s pretty big news for the Jets as they likely won’t find themselves scrambling for a quarterback again next offseaosn.

The decision also makes plenty of sense for Rodgers. He has one of the NFL’s richest contracts, so every year he plays is a whole lot more money in his pocket.

The Jets are also a very young team that could have a better chance to contend a year from now than they currently do.

Whether or not acquiring Aaron Rodgers works out for the New York Jets, it at least looks like they’ll get a couple of years to try and make a run at a ring with him at QB.
