NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers denies that he had enough to do with Robert Saleh’s firing.
On Tuesday morning, Jets owner Woody Johnson shocked the NFL world when he revealed that he was firing Saleh five games into the NFL season.
“This morning, I informed Robert Saleh that he will no longer serve as the Head Coach of the Jets,” said Johnson. “I thanked him for his hard work these past three-and-a-half years and wished him and his family well moving forward. This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.”
One report claims that Saleh was fired five minutes after he demoted Rodgers’ friend Nathaniel Hackett.
On Wednesday, Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee show to shoot down the accusations against him.
“It’s a tough business… I love coach Saleh. We have a very solid relationship… He’s a big reason why I came to the Jets.”
“I resent any of those accusations because they’re badly false. It’s interesting the amount of power people think I have. Which I don’t. I love Robert & it was one of those days yesterday.” said Rodgers on the Pat McAfee show.

Rodgers claims he spoke to Johnson on Monday night but they never discussed firing Saleh.
Rodgers: “Woody called me Monday night. We had a short conversation … he asked me how I was doing (re: ankle injury).”
