Ever since Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets in April 2023, the idea of him quarterbacking the team was entirely hypothetical, as it never truly came to fruition until September 2024 due to an Achilles injury.

Now that the concept of Aaron Rodgers and the Jets has become a reality, though, patience for his shtick appears to be much thinner, especially since the Jets currently sit at 2-5 and look like they’re going nowhere fast.

Following his weekly Tuesday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, both ESPN’s Dominique Foxworth, the former President of the NFLPA, and Jeff Saturday, who could enter the Hall of Fame one day, ripped into Rodgers for complaining about the media *while* speaking through the media.

“Man, throw some touchdowns. I get it, it’s a leadership thing and maybe it works for them in the locker room. But my guess is they’re in the locker room like, ‘Man, don’t throw it to the guys in the other colored jerseys and throw some touchdowns,'” Foxworth said on the Wednesday, October 23 episode of ESPN’s morning show Get Up!

“What you’re saying, do your actions meet your words? ‘Let’s not listen to the media. Let’s not pay attention to them. But I’m going to go on for an hour a clip, making extra cash to go do what? You’re talking to your team through — they don’t watch McAfee, bro… No shot on McAfee, obviously. I’m just saying, in general,” a frustrated Saturday added.

As a Jets fan, I can tell you that the fan base is beginning to feel the same way: if not specifically about Rodgers then the franchise as a whole, as the apathy brought on this season is arguably a crueler brew than we’ve been served in the last 13 playoff-less years given the talent and expectations of the team.
