We’re beginning to learn more about the New York Jets disastrous season and it’s not looking good. On Saturday, The Ahthletic’s Dianna Russini published a scathing report revealing that Jets owner Woody Johnson had soured on Rodgers during the season.
According to Russini, Johnson had considered ordering the benching Rodgers earlier in the season after the team’s loss to the Broncos.

After a September loss to the Denver Broncos dropped the team to 2-2, a frustrated Johnson called a meeting with high-ranking team officials and coaches in which he suggested benching four-time MVP QB Aaron Rodgers. Unsurprisingly, those in the room were stunned. Johnson ultimately walked back the suggestion
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had his own explosive report and claimed that Rodgers has resisted getting medical scans because he was afraid of getting benched.

“[Rodgers has] been banged up this season, fighting hamstring, knee and ankle injuries while being off and on the injury report. How injured is he? It’s unclear.” The cause of that apparently is the QB’s refusal to get fully checked out, allegedly in fear of possibly being benched.”
“One source explained that Rodgers has resisted getting scans done,” Rapoport continued. “Not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. He has insisted that he keep playing.”
As of now, it appears that the Rodgers and the Jets are headed toward a messy divorce.
