Aaron Rodgers has got the NFL world right where he wants them: speculating about his future. If you’ve been following the career of the controversial 41-year-old Hall of Fame-bound quarterback in recent years, you’ll know this had become a bit of a theme.

Despite being under contract with the New York Jets for one more season, Aaron Rodgers returning to the team seems unlikely at this stage, as both sides seem interested in parting ways.

If that does happen, the question then becomes whether Rodgers will retire or try to find a new team, and according to NFL insider Peter King, one potential landing spot could be the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I think we have seen Russell Wilson hit a wall, and whether [head coach] Mike Tomlin is even thinking about it.” King said on a recent episode of the Let’s Go podcast.

“If I were the Pittsburgh Steelers, knowing that I’ve got Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt — I got guys on defense with their expiration dates not long in the future — I would want to come in and try to get a quarterback who could make me competitive with Baltimore and Cincinnati in 2025. And that guy, to me, is Aaron Rodgers.”

The issue with King’s idea, however, is that it’s difficult to picture two personalities more diametrically opposed than those of Rodgers and longtime no-nonsense Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

During what’ll likely be his lone season as the Jets starting quarterback, Rodgers started in all 17 games and led the team to a 5-12 record, while completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Comparatively, Russell Wilson has started in 11 games for the Steelers this season and has completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

The Steelers, however, went 10-7 this season and qualified for the AFC Playoffs via the Wild Card, while the Jets fired their head coach and general manager.
