New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers took part in the American Century Classic (a celebrity golf tournament) in Lake Tahoe over the weekend and shared some details about his trip to Egypt and an update on his Achilles.

Rodgers made tons of headlines in mid-June when he bailed on the Jets’ mandatory minicamp for what head coach Robert Saleh called an “unexcused absence.” While Aaron Rodgers’ whereabouts were initially undisclosed, it’s since been revealed that he went on a trip to Egypt.

“Had a beautiful trip to Egypt,” Rodgers told NBC Sports at the American Century Classic. “This is like the last marker. Summer’s over on Sunday. Walking up on 18 (18th hole at American Century Championship) is super bittersweet, but it’s fun to be out.”

Rodgers also gave an update on the state of his Achilles, saying that it “feels good.”

“My Achilles feels good, you know, I felt really good at the end of last year. Then you know, there’s always that kind of plateau part. It’s just about getting back into it. I felt good.”

With the start of New York Jets training camp just about a week away, Gang Green currently has the 11th-best betting odds to win the Super Bowl at +2000. Ahead of the Jets are the Kansas City Chiefs (the favorites), San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys.

If the Jets are going to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010, let alone compete for a Super Bowl title, they’re going to need Rodgers and his recently repaired Achilles to actually be on the field. Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into the Jets 2023 season and has yet to complete an official regular season pass for the team.

The New York Jets 2024 training camp will begin on July 24. The team’s first game of the season is road Monday Night Football matchup against the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.
