In addition to a resurgent Clemson team, the Miami Hurricanes appear to be the ACC‘s best bet of securing two sports in the College Football Playoff.
The Hurricanes are 6-0 on the year led by Heisman trophy candidate quarterback Cam Ward. But that record hasn’t come without controversy.
The Canes benefitted from key refereeing decisions in wins over both Virginia Tech and California, leading some to wonder if the conference is trying to protect its potential cash cow.
If once is a coincidence, and twice is a trend, what does that make three times?
Miami Hurricanes Benefit From Yet Another Dubious (No) Call By ACC Refs
Miami found itself locked into a shootout with 4-2 Louisville on Saturday and yet again benefitted from a seemingly key missed call.
Late in the third quarter, Ward hit wide receiver Xavier Restrepo for a 63-yard gain leading to a touchdown on the next play to put the Canes up 38-31.
But a further look shows that Miami almost certainly should have been called for holding on the play.
