PGA Tour golfer Adam Hadwin did not have a very good time at the Valspar Championship. He missed the cut on Friday afternoon and went extremely viral for the funniest moment in golf this year.
The 37-year-old caused a sprinkler to explode with an angry club smash during the second round.
Hadwin, who finished tied for ninth at the Phoenix Open, missed the cut in three of his last four golf events. This latest occurrence stemmed directly from a double bogey on the 10th hole. It dropped him from 1-over to 3-over and effectively ended his tournament. There was no way to come back.
The double bogey was a disaster. Hadwin actually smoked his drive and found the fairway off the tee. All he had to do was hit an easy mid-iron to the green but his initial approach shot was left very short to the right. Whether a result of a mudball and/or a total shank, the second shot left him with 44 yards to the green on his third. It was infuriating.
Adam Hadwin let out his frustration as he walked toward his ball. He reached his iron over his head with both hands and slammed it down on a sprinkler below. The sprinkler, which was off, immediately turned on. Water sprayed everywhere — even reaching a few nearby spectators on a chilly morning in Florida.

There was no way to stop the spray. Adam Hadwin tried to force the sprinkler back into its hole but he could only watch as water continued to flow out from either side of the head. His facial expression showed a mix of unresolved anger and sheer embarrassment. His caddy stood nearby in awe.

I don’t know exactly how long it took to resolve the issue but the Valspar Championship grounds crew at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida was quick to the scene. They eventually had to shut off the flow of water to the specific sprinkler to get it to stop. There was no other way. RIP sprinkler.
