NFL insider Adam Schefter went viral on Wednesday, not for a breaking football story, but because he made a rather startling admission. When asked what is the weirdest place he ever broke a story, he said it was while he was in bed with a woman.
“I can remember being in Denver one time and I was, how do I say this? I just spent time with this woman for the first time, and got a text that Dale Carter was being suspended,” Schefter told Kevin Clark on the This Is Football show.
“I think it was for eight games for substance abuse. So I continued to lay there, confirm it, and got the job done, Kevin. In every which way.”
Fast forward 24 hours, and Adam Schefter made another revelation involving another woman: his wife, Sharri Maio. It turns out, she wasn’t too happy that he publicly revealed breaking a football story during some bedroom activity as a young reporter.
During a radio appearance on WEEI 93.7 FM on Wednesday, the show’s hosts wouldn’t even let him get to any football stuff before bringing up Schefter’s post-coitus breaking news story.
“First of all, I am completely shocked that this has taken on the life that it has,” Adam Schefter dubiously claimed.
“All day long I’ve been responding to texts about this, including my wife this afternoon.
“My wife didn’t appreciate the story as much as other people, I would say. I should point that out. Some people enjoyed it; my wife, not as much. Not as much.
“Again… I don’t know what to say,” Schefter continued. “What do you want me to say? I said what I said. I said what I said, right?

Adam Schefter, who had previously been married, has now been married to his second wife, Sharri Maio, since 2007. The couple met on a blind date after Maio’s first husband was killed in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
In 2018, he wrote a book about his wife’s late husband, Joe Maio, and his and Sharri’s subsequent relationship, called The Man I Never Met.
