Aden Holloway received permission to leave the state of Alabama during March Madness. However, his request had nothing to do with the Crimson Tide.

As it would turn out, he just wanted to watch his sister.

All of the scuttlebutt about his potential return to college basketball was much ado about nothing. That was never part of the plan.

Aden Holloway was granted a request to travel out of state.

Holloway is currently banned from school-related activities at the University of Alabama. The junior point guard was removed from campus after he was arrested on the morning of March 16 on first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp.

The West Alabama Narcotics Task Force continues to believe his intent was to sell because it found approximately 2.1 pounds of cannabis in his apartment. Holloway continues to refute “each and every” charge levied against him even though the police found evidence of “drug transactions” on his phone.

A preliminary hearing is currently set for April 14.

The 21-year-old was not initially allowed to leave the state of Alabama by the terms of his bond. However, he was granted a request to travel out of state on Friday.

Most people, myself included, thought Aden Holloway was trying to watch his team play No. 1 seed Michigan in the Sweet 16… or to play. The Crimson Tide very quickly ruled out the latter and he was not in the crowd during the loss to the Wolverines. So where was he?

His sister also played in the Sweet 16!

Mila Holloway is a point guard at the University of Michigan. She is currently averaging 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 28.9 minutes per game as a sophomore.

The Wolverines defeated the Cardinals of Louisville in the Sweet 16 of March Madness on Saturday. Holloway finished with five points, four rebounds, seven assists and one steal in the 19-point victory.

Her big brother was in the crowd to watch her.

Aden Holloway was granted his request to travel out of state so he could watch his sister in the NCAA Tournament— not to play for Alabama. That was always the plan. She was thrilled to have him there.

“He’s here. He made it,” Mia Holloway told The Detroit News. “He was telling me he wanted to come. It was just great to have him here.”

The Lady Wolverines will play in the Elite Eight on Monday. Aden’s out-of-state travel release does not require him to return to Alabama until Tuesday so he can stay in Texas to watch his sister’s next game.

Should No. 2 seed Michigan pull an upset over No. 1 seed Texas, it would play in the Final Four next weekend. Aden Holloway would then need a judge to grant him another request to travel out of state.
