Former five-star wide receiver Agiye Hall has reportedly committed to play for the Sacramento State Hornets. The news comes after failed stops at three different schools.

Hall initially signed with Nick Saban at Alabama as one of the nation’s top pass catchers in the 2021 recruiting class. In his lone season with the Crimson Tide, he logged four catches for 72 yards. Fifty-two of those yards came in a national championship matchup vs. Georgia.

Unfortunately, he was later suspended in Tuscaloosa. That punishment, as well as his position on the depth chart, led to a transfer. Hall soon ended up at Texas, where he ran into trouble once again.

With the Longhorns, he played sparingly in 2022. Hall caught one pass for seven yards in three appearances. He was arrested in August of ’22 for removing a parking boot from his vehicle on campus.

“I arrived on scene and observed a male swinging a tire iron at the parking boot… The parking boot was damaged to the point that part of it shattered and completely separated from the wheel of Agiye’s vehicle. Hall had been warned previously by multiple officers not to damage the parking boot.”

Agiye Hall again hit the portal after the ’22 season but failed to find a landing spot. That could’ve been a result of being caught in an airport with 40 pounds of marijuana that offseason. In 2024, he pledged to play for the UCF Knights as a walk-on but never suited up for the team.

Now, he’ll look to revive his college career with a new program who recently made a major commitment to football success.

Agiye Hall has committed to Sacramento State.

Sacramento State made headlines earlier this year by claiming to have raised $35 million in NIL funding in one day. In all, the program says that it’s secured over $50 million to put towards its football team as it pursues inclusion in the PAC 12.

The Hornets currently play at the FCS level. Not only are they looking to jump up to the FBS, but they hope to take advantage of realignment’s impact on the Conference of Champions.

Sacramento State hopes to market its football program with help from its new five-star pledge, even if he does come with red flags. Agiye Hall has been suspended at two different stops. He’s had multiple legal run-ins. He hasn’t played a game in two seasons. It will be interesting to see how the marriage works out when the Hornets take the field in 2025.
