Aden Holloway’s attorney responded on Monday to the drug charges made against the Crimson Tide star. He is demanding a trial to dispute the allegations made against his client.

“Defendant denies each and every material allegation, and demands strict proof thereof,” Holloway’s attorney Jason Neff wrote in his legal filing on Monday, according to WIAT News. “The Defendant hereby demands a Trial on the claims made by the Plaintiff.”

Neff had previously claimed that authorities violated Aden Holloway’s constitutional rights in the method they used to establish probable cause to search his apartment. “In review of the probable cause [search warrant], once this case moves forward, we would challenge the basis of the search with a motion to suppress evidence for the violation of his Fourth Amendment rights,” Neff told ESPN.

The evidence against Aden Holloway

Tuscaloosa County district attorney Hays Webb claims, based on $400 discovered in his apartment during a search by narcotics agents last week, that Aden Holloway was selling drugs. Webb also claims text messages found on Holloway’s phone were related to drug-related transactions. Officers with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force also found 2.1 pounds of marijuana at the Tide’s second leading scorer’s apartment in addition to a rolling tray and packaging material.

“The money is being seized due to seeing drug transactions on Holloway’s phone, with people texting that they were going to get up with him after the season,” prosecutors said in a complaint filed on Friday. “Holloway had smaller denominations in his possession, which is indicative of narcotic sales. The marijuana was in separate packing, from plastic bags to prepackaged marijuana to vacuum-sealed bags.”

Aden Holloway asserted that he was not selling the marijuana and that it was only for his own use. Police took him into custody and charged him with first-degree marijuana possession as well as failure to apply a tax stamp. After he posted a $5,000 bond, authorities later released him from custody.

Alabama suspended Aden Holloway and removed him from campus

The team suspended the Crimson Tide star following his arrest. The university also removed him from campus while the University of Alabama Office of Student Conduct performs an investigation. Holloway has a preliminary hearing set for April 14 at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

Holloway will miss the team’s game against Michigan on Friday. The Tide previously beat Hofstra and Texas Tech in the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament without Holloway to advance to the Sweet 16.
