Alabama Clowned For Florida Themed Meal Ahead Of USF Matchup: ‘They Got The Wrong Team’

The Alabama Crimson Tide are gearing up for a trip to Tampa this weekend as they take on the University of South Florida. To build anticipation for the Sunshine State matchup, the school served up some fresh alligator.

Unfortunately, they seemed to have gotten the mascots twisted. Many online are now clowning the team on social media.

Photos of the meal were posted online this week ahead of Alabama’s contest with USF. The theme is certainly Florida-related, but there was a much more practical option there for the taking.

The USF Bulls would’ve allowed a perfect opportunity for either steak or hamburgers in a mascot-driven dinner. Instead, Alabama chose gator, the team name of an SEC rival.

Who knows? Maybe they’re over beef after that loss to the Texas Longhorns.

Or maybe they wanted to find a place to squeeze this supper in since they don’t play Florida in the regular season this year.

After seeing the pictures circulate online, a college football fan posted a thread to Reddit. The responses to the meal are hysterical.

“Weirdest stray Florida has ever taken,” one follower said.

Maybe this is just one of Nick Saban’s motivational tactics.

Of course, there’s a chance it backfires…

“Someone misread the schedule when they had to put the weekly menus together,” this fan wrote.

“I don’t think this is quite the troll move they were aiming for…” said another.

“Who wants to tell Alabama that a bull is beef?” sarcastically asked one person to which another follower quipped, “Beef was deemed a choking hazard,” in reference to the Texas loss.

The Tide will look to put that defeat behind them this weekend, though this pregame meal isn’t doing them any favors in terms of online mockery.

Alabama and USF will face off on Saturday at 3:30 PM EST. The game will be televised on ABC.
