Just months after its biggest rival winning the national championship, the University of Alabama is taking is set to open a brand-new, $50 million college golf facility ahead of the 2024/25 season. PGA pros and Crimson Tide alumni Justin Thomas and Trey Mullinax helped to design the state-of-the-art space alongside Darren May, a PGA Tour instructor for many of the top athletes in the sport.

Auburn won the national championship in 2023/24 so its biggest rival is ready to even the score!

The $47,750,000 facility is located on 176 acres just north of campus. Five different buildings make up the property, including the Golf House and Cart Barn, a Pump House and Comfort Station, and a separate Golf Maintenance Facility. There is also a nine-hole golf course, driving range, short-game complex and multiple hitting bays.

The 18,000-square foot clubhouse is built in a Georgian Revival style with brick veneer, limestone, metal guardrails, and shingle roof. It is just as nice or even nicer than most country clubs in the United States.

Construction is almost complete after Davis Architects officially broke ground in April of 2023. There are a few minor tweaks to be made before the season but the facility has come a long way over the last 16 months.

Alabama will house both men’s and women’s golf teams in the ‘Crimson Reserve’ facility. The latter begins its season on Sept. 2 so the athletes are back in Tuscaloosa to start preparations.

Although some of the grass still needs to take, the course is playable and ready for practice. There may not be a better facility in the country. Wake Forest, Arkansas, Stanford, South Carolina, Oregon and Georgia Tech come close. The Crimson Tide’s new digs definitely jump into the lead. It’s breathtaking.

Alabama’s venue is the first of its kind and a national championship is the expectation— sooner than later!
