The Alabama football team fell for the second time in three weeks on Saturday, losing to SEC rival Tennessee in Neyland Stadium. The loss dropped the Crimson Tide to 5-2 on the year, severely hindering their College Football Playoff outlook.

It continued a rough month of October for Kalen DeBoer, whose team has been accused of being undisciplined and uncommitted.

Alabama racked up 15 penalties in the loss to the Vols. They now lead the SEC with 62 infractions through seven games.

The lack of discipline is evidenced, while the lack of commitment to winning is more perception at this point. Over the last three games, the Tide have been beaten by Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Those defeats sandwiched a near-loss to South Carolina.

Alabama is experiencing struggles not seen under Nick Saban, and fans believe that the new coaching staff is to blame.

One particular play from Saturday’s loss to the Vols went viral over the weekend. It showed a pair of Crimson Tide wideouts practicing their jump shots as QB Jalen Milroe attempted a sneak.

The play failed miserably, making the team appear all the more unserious to college football viewers.

When the team’s winning, some of these plays go unnoticed. They may be chalked up as “kids being kids.”

When you’re losing, though, complaints surrounding the team’s focus grow loud.

That was certainly the case this weekend as offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan was questioned about the viral play in his Monday presser. His response did little to ease Alabama fans’ concerns!

“There’s nothing on the field that we’re not coaching,” he said of the jump shooting.

Now, Sheridan was likely just backing his players as opposed to throwing them under the bus as we’ve seen rival Hugh Freeze do time and again this year.

Still, it wasn’t the best look for a staff and team that’s been ripped for being “unprofessional.”

Alabama will look to put the latest loss behind them and get back in the win column. We probably won’t see much more basketball practice from the wideout group when the Tide face Missouri on Saturday.
