Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams is one of the country’s top freshman regardless of positions.

But Williams caused a controversy on Saturday night when fans realized that his facetape for the Crimson Tide’s game against Georgia had the message “kill everybody” written on.

Images of Williams’ tape and the message quickly went viral on social media, causing a huge stir that led to the message even trending on Twitter.

Alabama WR Ryan Williams’ ‘Killer Everybody’ Facetape Message Probably Isn’t Literal

Now, it’s important to note that Williams’ message was extremely hyperbolic. He dod not want to “kill everyone.” The idea is just a mindset that he takes onto the football. It’s no different than saying “take no prisoners.”

But we can understand how it may not come across well to everyone.

That being said, it’s hard to say that his play doesn’t reflect the message. Williams has five catches for 102 yards with five minutes remaining in the game against the Bulldogs. He entered the contest with 10 receptions for 285 yards and four touchdowns.

It just goes to show why Williams was one of the nation’s top prospects a year ago. He initially committed to the Tide under head coach Nick Saban.

But when Saban retired, Williams decommitted for Alabama. Eventually, he circled back around to become the first big commit for new head coach Kalen DeBoer.

We’re sure the Tide, and its fans, are grateful that he did.
