Now that Alan Ritchson is an A-lister, the Reacher and Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare star is booked and busy, with a bevy of upcoming projects on his plate.

One of those projects is the action thriller Motor City, which began filming this month. As a result of Motor City going into production, Alan Ritchson has undergone a physical change to get into character, as he revealed in an Instagram video that he’ll be dropping weight, and having his teeth unwhitened (?), and wearing fake tattoos and a wig to portray his character John Miller, the film’s lead.

In addition to Ritchson, Motor City is also set to star Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, and Ben Foster.

“How do you completely transform when you only have a few days to transition from Reacher to your next role in period action piece extraordinaire, Motor City? You bring out the big guns,” Rithcson wrote on Instagram.

“Thomas Delauer to help me drop weight fast. The one-of-a-kind Sandy Sokolowski for new hair. And the great Gary Archer for a less pearly set of pearly whites. And of course Kat Crisp on some new character specific tats. My goal is always to make a character as real for you as humanely possible. Not having days off between jobs makes it hard to go as far as I want, but I’ll get as close to unrecognizable as possible. I refuse to play myself. You’ve never experienced anything like Motor City.”

Based on Ritchson’s caption, it seems as though season three of his hit Prime Video series Reacher has wrapped filming.

According to Variety, which broke the story of Ritchson’s casting in the film, Motor City, obviously set in Detroit, follows “Miller (Ritchson), a Detroit auto-worker whose life and girlfriend (Woodley) are taken away from him when he’s framed by a local gangster (Foster) and sent to prison. On his release, Miller unleashes a maelstrom of vengeance on those who wronged him as he attempts to win his girl back.”

In a statement announcing the project, the film’s production company said that Motor City will be “characterized by immersive visual storytelling, with stunningly choreographed and stylized action sequences.”

Motor City is being directed by Potsy Ponciroli, who has previously helmed the 2021 Tim Blake Nelson-starring western Old Henry.

Earlier this year, BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast interviewed Ritchson ahead of the release of his film Ordinary Angels, which you can watch below.
