Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso has gotten a tattoo of Kobe Bryant on his leg.

The tattoo that Alex Caurso recently got, which is in grey ink, is the famed image of Kobe Bryant sitting in the shower of the Lakers locker room looking pensive while holding the Larry O’Brien trophy.

The photo — one of the most iconic is the history of the NBA, particularly for the current generation of fans and players who grew up watching Kobe — was taken after Kobe and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2001 NBA Finals to win their second consecutive NBA title.

While many of the reactions were jokes about Jayson Tatum, one of the top replies that went viral was a joke about a millionaire NBA player not being able to find a good tattoo artist.

In the 2001 NBA Finals, the Lakers beat the 76ers 4-1, with Shaquille O’Neal being named Finals MVP (for the second straight year). Bryant was similarly dominant, averaging 24.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists across the five games. The Lakers would then go on to add a third consecutive NBA title to their mantle in 2002 after sweeping the New Jersey Nets.

While Caruso used to play for the Los Angeles Lakers, he never got to play with Bryant, as he retired in 2016, one year before Caruso, now with the Chicago Bulls, joined the team.

During the 2023-24 season with the Bulls, his third in Chicago, Caruso played in a career-high 71 games and started a career-high 57. He also had career-highs in minutes per game (28.7), field goal percentage (.468), rebounds per game (3.8), steals per game (1.7), blocks per game (1), and points per game (10.1).
