Alfonso Ribeiro Breaks Out In Signature ‘Carlton’ Dance At American Century Championship

If you’re a Gen X, you probably watched The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when it was on television, and if you’re a millennial you likely watched it in late night re-runs that were seemingly on every night growing up. That means, you’re likely familiar with Carlton Banks, one of the lead characters of the show, portrayed by Alfonso Ribeiro.

Of course, Carlton Banks was famous for his trademark dance, “The Carlton”, that he would use throughout the show. Ribeiro, who won and now hosts Dancing with the Stars, still loves to break the move out whenever he can.

Ribeiro was playing in the American Century Championship, an annual celebrity golf tournament, this weekend in Lake Tahoe. And, you know he had to break out “The Carlton”.

It’s still a classic, that’s for sure.

Ribeiro starred at Carlton Banks for the entirety of the show’s run from 1990-1996. His nerdy, privileged persona contrasted sharply against the street-smart but rough-around-the-edges personality of Will Smith’s self-eponymous character.

Since, he’s acted in a bunch of different roles,  but is most known for his hosting duties. Not only does he host Dancing with the Stars, but he also hosts America’s Funniest Home Videos. He succeeded Tom Bergeron in both roles.

Alfonso Ribeiro won Dancing with the Stars in Season 19 with partner Witney Carson. He proved he has more moves than “The Carlton”, that’s for sure.

Former tennis player Mardy Fish won the event. Ribeiro finished T25.
