Former Texas Football Player Refuses To Acknowledge Longhorns After Demotion Led To Bitter Transfer

One of his past schools was missing from that message to fans. Niblack snubbed the Texas football program.

Who is Amari Niblack?

The pass catcher was once a four-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He was considered a Top 100 player regardless of position.

Niblack signed with Alabama and enrolled in June. He made an instant impact in Tuscaloosa.

The tight end saw action in 10 games as a freshman, though he was limited on offense. Niblack hauled in his only catch for a 15-yard touchdown.

As a sophomore, his role grew larger. He racked up 20 catches for 327 yards and four scores while helping the Crimson Tide win the SEC.

Alabama would lose its College Football Playoff opener to Michigan. Nick Saban abruptly retired at year’s end. Niblack opted to enter the transfer portal after losing his coach.

He was demoted at Texas.

After the breakout sophomore season, Amari Niblack was expected to become a weapon upon signing with the Longhorns as a transfer. It didn’t happen.

Niblack got buried on the depth chart. He caught just five passes for a total of 33 yards.

After a year largely spent on the sidelines, Niblack again entered the portal. He landed with rival Texas A&M.

As an Aggie, he recorded five catches for 69 yards while playing in 13 games. He will now go pro.

In his NFL Draft announcement, he curiously omitted the Longhorns. Texas was not included in the graphic. Only Alabama and Texas A&M were represented.

Clearly, there is still a grudge. He’s dropped any and all Texas affiliation. The tight end does not consider himself a Longhorn despite spending a season in Austin.
