Amir Khan is back at McNeese State after a brief stint at North Carolina State. The viral college basketball manager lasted less than six months on Will Wade’s staff in Raleigh.
He returned home to Louisiana!
It is currently unclear as to why the young man known to college basketball fans as ‘Aura’ made his return to Lake Charles. However, it did not have to do with money.
Amir Khan was the most viral star of March Madness.
If you are reading this article, you are already familiar with the legend that is Amir Khan. He first went viral in February for leading the Cowboys with a boombox during the most hype tunnel walk in the country.
His brand exploded, which led to more than $100,000 in NIL deals during the NCAA Tournament.
"He is cinema." 🍿

They went even one step further for the second round.

Khan even got to hang out with Spike Lee.

You get the idea. He was a very big deal throughout the month of March.
And then head coach Will Wade left McNeese State for the same job at North Carolina State.
Khan transferred with him. The viral student manager joined Wade’s staff as a graduate assistant.
He was first spotted in Raleigh during The Basketball Tournament over the summer.

However, Khan is no longer at N.C. State. The 22-year-old is back at McNeese State.
A return to McNeese State sparked unfounded NIL rumors.
According to a spokesperson with the university, Amir Khan is back with the Cowboys as the men’s basketball team manager. He rejoined the program during the last weekend of November and was part of the game at Incarnate Word on Dec. 1.
The reason for his transfer is currently unclear but I would imagine it has something to do with his family in Lake Charles and wanting to be closer to home. Maybe it had to do with his responsibilities (or lack thereof) on Wade’s staff. I don’t know. He has not said.
What I do know is that Khan is back at McNeese State and it had nothing to do with money. There were a lot of unfounded rumors about an NIL dispute at N.C. State. The most prominent “report” came from fake college basketball reporter “Scott Hughes” — who somehow continues to “break” fake news on X even though he is not a real person. It is a “parody” account rooted entirely in falsified stories.
Amir Khan decided to set the record straight anyway. He didn’t want his name to be dragged through the mud by a reporter who does not exist.
There you have it.
Khan did not transfer from North Carolina State back to McNeese State because of finances. Not true.
