Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown took a shot at the general intelligence of Lions fans while defending the team’s decision to hire Drew Petzing as its new offensive coordinator. The Lions are hiring a new offensive coordinator after firing previous OC John Morton following the team’s disappointing 9-8 season.

After missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2022, the Detroit Lions went back to the drawing board on offense by firing offensive coordinator John Morton, who was stripped of play-calling duties midway through the 2025 season.

Replacing Morton will reportedly be Drew Petzing, who has been the offensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals since 2023. Petzing, however, is apparently not a popular pick among Lions fans, which led to Brown’s critical comments about the fanbase.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown criticized the intelligence of Lions fans following their complaints about the team’s offensive coordinator hire

“I see crazy Lions fans talking crazy, like, ‘Oh, why would we do this?’ Like, bro, do you guys have no trust in Dan, in the Lions? You think they would just hire a random dude? You think they don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t do their research, they don’t interview? Most of you guys don’t know really much about anything, about any ball, and you’re tweeting about a coach that was hired that you guys don’t like because X, Y, Z,” St. Brown said on his podcast.

This season with the Lions, his fifth in the NFL, St. Brown started in all 17 regular season games and caught 117 passes for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns.
