Ranking players in the NBA is always one of the hottest debates around the league.

The debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan will rage on forever.

This year’s MVP race was heavily debated for much of the year.

Now Andre Iguodala has given a surprising take on another debate around the league.

Andre Iguodala picked Kevin Durant and Paul George as the NBA’s 2 most talented players during an appearance on the Point Forward podcast.

The Durant pick shouldn’t be all that controversial. There are certainly other players that belong in the conversation with him. Jokic, Embiid, Giannis, Steph, Tatum, Luka, and LeBron can all make arguments for that spot.

However, Durant has proven over the course of his career that he is one of the most talented players in the history of the league. In fact, there are very few players throughout history that belong in the same conversation as him in terms of offensive talent.

The Paul George pick is where things get interesting.

George is absolutely an elite 2-way player in the NBA and has been for over a decade, but it is difficult to see the argument for him as the league’s 2nd most talented player.

I’d argue he isn’t even the most talented player on his own team.

PG and Kawhi Leonard have similar numbers throughout their careers, but Kawhi has a pair of Defensive Player of the Year awards and two rings.

George has consistently been one of the 15-20 best players in the league for the majority of his career, but he hasn’t even been seen as a top 5 guy, let alone top 2.

Maybe Iguodala has some kind of special insight from having had to guard Paul George during his career, but him being a top 2 talent in the league seems like a stretch.
