Angel Reese Should Win Rookie Of The Year Over Caitlin Clark Because Sky Have Better Record Than Fever According To ESPN’s Monica McNutt

ESPN personality Monica McNutt has angered fans with her latest take on the WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

On Friday, McNutt appeared on ‘Get Up’ to debate the Rookie of the Year chase between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese.

According to McNutt, she’s currently giving Reese the edge because the Chicago Sky currently has a better record than the Indiana Fever.

“My Rookie Of The Year is going to go based on standings, because that is how you have the opportunity to measure impact, and the Sky right now are in the playoffs, so you have to give the nod in my mind to Angel Reese. Look the double-double streak she has rolling…If you look at what’s around her…there’s not another number one draft pick on that roster, there’s not another All-Star on that roster”

Clark fans responded to McNutt’s argument on social media.

“Even if we ignore the fact that Caitlin Clark is beating Angel Reese in nearly every statistical category outside of rebounds, the Sky are on pace to lose more games this year than they did last year, while the Fever are on pace to win four more games than they did in 2023.” commented one fan.

“I can’t think of an award where standings is less relevant than rookie of the year. If you are going to reach for excuses to account for your biases, try harder. Clark is more impactful to winning in every metric, leads in every statistical category aside from rebounds (would be a fun dive to determine how many of Reese’s rebounds are contested or off her own missed shots).” said another fan.

There’s still a lot of time until the end of the WNBA season and I’m sure there’s going to be plenty of more debates about the Rookie of the Year award between now and then.
