Angel Reese made headlines in her most recent WNBA matchup for an outburst on the Chicago Sky sidelines during a loss to the Washington Mystics. The star forward was seen slapping a clipboard from the hands of an assistant coach.

Reese addressed the situation in a message on X while cryptically ripping officiating. She was unapologetic in that response but vowed to avoid a similar situation in the future.

Those **** were [ticking] me off. Shoutout to Ann because she know it was the heat of the moment and she didn’t let me apologize because she knew! Not happening again tho.

Reese’s tirade came in the final moments of a close loss to the Mystics. After a foul was called on a teammate, she was seen smacking a clipboard out of a staff member’s grasp.

The slap largely overshadowed a productive performance in which she scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to record a sixth straight double-double.

She insists that the assistant coach wouldn’t let her apologize for the disrespect. She did, however, promise to control her emotions moving forward.

Angel Reese also took another swipe at WNBA referees, her second in as many games. After a loss to Minnesota, she blasted officials for swallowing their whistles throughout the contest. She dared the league to fine her by directly pointing out officials’ incompetence.

She was a bit more cryptic in her latest criticism, replacing the word “refs” with “****” in her social media post.

Her initial frustration seemed to have an effect. After shooting just two free throws in that loss to the Lynx, she made 15 trips to the charity stripe against Washington. Still, she believes officiating was one-sided in the 81-79 defeat.

Reese received backlash for her actions after the fact. She turned to TikTok with a message for her haters.

Angel Reese isn’t worried about the perception from WNBA fans. She continues to rake in dough despite the negative attention.

Rather than dwell on the opinions of outsiders, she’s celebrating an All-Star invite, video game cover op, and new shoe release. She is not concerned as she continues to embrace her role of basketball villain.
