Angel Reese was tossed on of the Chicago Sky’s Tuesday, June 4 loss against the New York Liberty, and oft-injured NBA star Lonzo Ball, who was in attendance at the game, wasn’t a fan of the ejection.

Taking to Twitter after the game, the 26-year-old former #2 overall pick not only called out the ref’s treatment of Angel Reese but also offered to pay whatever fines she’ll incur from the ejection.

“Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw… You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you),” Ball tweeted, which prompted Reese to reply, “appreciate you gang!”

The WNBA fines players $200 for each of their first three technical fouls of the season — with those being Reese’s first two, she’ll out the league $400.

In the 88-75 loss to Breana Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and the rest of the New York Liberty, Reese scored 13 points, pulled in 10 rebounds, and dished out 1 assist.

So far this season, Reese — who won a national championship with LSU in 2023 — is averaging 10.9 points, 9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

While Reese is curretly at the dawn of her career, Ball is likely at the twilight of his, as injuries have forced him to miss the entirety of both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. Even the year before, he only played in 35 games for the Chicago Bulls in 2021/22.

“It’s coming along, man. Week by week. It’s improving, so that’s all I can ask for,” he said of his rehab on a recent episode of his What An Experience podcast.

“Still not where I want it to be. Out of 100 (percent), I’d say I’m about 70 (percent). Good enough to play, but it could still get better. I still got a long summer ahead of me. But definitely looking forward to the future.”

The expectation is that Ball, who will turn 27 in October, will return to an NBA floor sometime during the 2024/25 campaign, although not by opening night.
