Angel Reese has officially played her final game in a Chicago Sky uniform after a tenuous 2025 season between the WNBA superstar and the team that selected her No. 7 overall in the 2024 draft.

Reese, a superstar in college at LSU, finished as the runner-up for WNBA Rookie of the Year to Caitlin Clark in 2024, making the All-Star Game in the process.

She backed that up with another All-Star Game appearance in 2025. But all the while, the Sky struggled, going 13-27 in her rookie season and then 10-34 a year ago, missing the playoffs by a wide margin on both occasions.

This led to tension between Reese and the organization, as she publicly threw her teammates under the bus and threatened to force her way out of Chicago.

Now it appears that the Sky organization has made a decision for her.

Chicago Sky Trade Angel Reese To Atlanta Dream After Tumultuous Season

On Monday morning, TNT Sports’ Taylor Rooks reported that the Sky had agreed to a deal to send Reese to the Atlanta Dream. Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports further reported that the Dream sent a pair of first-round picks, one in 2027 and another in 2028, to Chicago for Reese and the rights to swap second-round picks in 2028.

Atlanta went 30-14 in 2025, finishing with the third-best record in the WNBA before falling to the Indiana Fever, 2-1, in the opening round of the playoffs, despite Indiana playing without Clark due to a lingering groin injury.

Reese now gives the Dream one of the league’s top rebounders and a versatile defensive piece, while the Sky continues to look to the future and load up on draft picks.

All in all, the move seems like a win for both Chicago, which seemed ready to move on from Reese, and Atlanta, which adds a talented young forward to an already strong roster.
