Angel Reese got emotional during the Chicago Sky’s latest postgame press conference. On Tuesday night, Reese picked up 17 points and 11 rebounds in the team’s 19-point blowout loss to the NY Liberty.
After the game, Reese was asked if she was trying to make a statement with her performance, following online criticism she received this week.
“I don’t really worry about what’s going on online, I get so much love in person and I’ve never had a negative encounter in person ever.” said Reese.
Chicago Sky’s Ariel Atkins went on to defend her teammate from media and online criticism, which led to Reese getting emotional at the press conference.
“The amount of crap that she gets at a day to day and she still shows up…This is a 23-year-old kid, who handles herself with grace, her crown is heavy”
“So whatever else y’all want to come at her, for the way that she acts, she has to build the wall, she has to have the wall, because if she doesn’t, people will break her down. Not only just because of the way she looks, but because of the way she carries herself.”
