The San Jose Sharks once again own the worst record in the NHL, having managed just 43 points on the season with 17 wins and 40 losses (so far). With the team bottom feeding for the 4th season in a row, tensions appear to have boiled over for one fan who tried to throw hands with the San Jose Sharks mascot, Sharkie.

While the San Jose Sharks lost, again, video emerged of a fan trying to throw punches with Sharkie. At first when I saw it shared by Barstool’s X I thought ‘this has to be staged’ because who in their right mind would ever try and fight the San Jose Sharks mascot? And the mascot throws his hands up innocently at one point. But upon closer inspection you can clearly see this fan is heated.

According to a follow-up post to the video below from @SFGiantsMemes, the ‘context’ is believed to be thath “Sharkie came over to sit next to the guy. The guy fell back in his chair. Blamed Sharkie (clearly not Sharkie’s fault) and tried to fight him.” Here’s the clip:

Trying to fight the mascot, in earnest, is objectively hilarious and insane. It is something straight out of a movie and not a move one would ever expect to see in real life…

Did this person really, truly feel disrespected by the San Jose Sharks mascot because he fell off his chair? Were they out of it and in need of medical attention? Did security show up in time to diffuse the situation? Was Sharkie actually at fault and nobody’s willing to tell it like it is? There are lots of questions but not a lot of answers.

This is not the first time we have seen Sharkie in a heated situation. He previously threw on comically oversized gloves and knocked out Gritty:
