Antonio Brown’s social media presence ultimately led to his downfall.
Back in May, Brown was accused of shooting at a man after a scuffle at an influencer boxing event in Miami.
The Miami PD immediately filed a warrant for Brown’s arrest.
“According to the warrant, Miami police detectives later obtained video footage that appears to show Brown punching another man, sparking a melee, and the footage later shows Brown appearing to take the gun of a security officer and running toward the man he had punched. According to the warrant, cellphone video captures two gun shots as Brown approaches the victim and includes the victim ducking.”
“On May 21, according to the warrant, detectives met with the alleged victim, who told them that after the initial fight had been broken up, Brown “began to run toward him with a firearm” and shot at him twice, possibly grazing his neck.”
Brown would end up fleeing to Dubai and post about his luxurious lifestyle while abroad.
Police took notice and were eventually able to track down Brown in Dubai due to his social media posts.
“US Marshals working Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office got together built an arrest warrant and located he was at Dubai” Said a Miami-Dade Police spokesperson. “We knew this because he was posting videos, riding a bike, kind of like laughing at the city of Miami.”
Miami-Dade Police Chief Manuel Morales released a statement on Brown’s arrest.
“Let this serve as a clear message, no matter who you are, or where you run, we will pursue the facts, and identify you, locate you, and bring you to justice.”
