App State is hosting the university’s third-ever ‘White Out‘ during Saturday’s college football game against Liberty at Kidd-Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina. However, the Flames intentionally ruined the Mountaineers’ theme with a petty choice of uniform.

The visitors are taking it over on purpose!

Appalachian State University has played Liberty University 10 different times in their history, dating back to 1987. The Mountaineers have won seven of the 10 games. The Flames won the most recent matchup in 2014.

Even though they have not played in a decade, there is bad blood between the two schools that stems from Liberty head coach Jamey Chadwell. He previously coached at Coastal Carolina, which had a heated rivalry with App State during the last few years of his tenure.

Chadwell reignited the beef back in August and turned it up another notch on Thursday.

The Mountaineers announced plans for a ‘White Out’ on Sept. 28 prior to the start of the 2024 college football season. Their decision was met with widespread disapproval because fans pride themselves on their school colors. Black and gold part of the identity to game day in Boone. White goes against that.

Nevertheless, App State pushed forward.

An attempt at a White Out will take place on Saturday— even though most everybody is furious about the choice of color. And to make matters worse, the uniforms on the field will not match the theme.

The Mountaineers will not wear white uniforms for their White Out.

App State’s initial post to social media initially included the hashtag #WearWhite, which has since been removed.

AWKWARD!

To be fair, App State is not alone this season! Baylor ruined Colorado’s white out last weekend. Miami ruined Florida’s white out during Week 1. It’s so petty. It’s so funny.
