Arch Manning Throws Brutal Interception In First Drive As Texas Longhorns Starter

Arch Manning has patiently waited behind Quinn Ewers for his chance to become the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns.

With Ewers out injured, Manning finally got his shot on Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe.

But the game didn’t start according to plan for Manning, who threw an absolutely awful interception into triple coverage on his first drive as a starter.

Manning faced some pressure in his face on the play. But he should’ve made a much better decision. There was a trio of ULM defenders surrounding his wide receiver, and the ball was significantly underthrown as well.

But he responded well on the following drive, throwing a beautiful deep ball to star wideout Isaiah Bond.

Manning still has some room to improve, obviously. But he’s only a true sophomore and it appears he and his family know exactly how he wants to handle his college career.

“I reached out to the Manning family. One of my sources in the Manning family said this, ‘We are old school. You never lose your job from an injury. It will get handled. Everybody assumes that Arch is on this fast track to the NFL. That is not true. We are in no hurry. He wants to develop. He wants to stay in Sark’s system. He decided to go there, knowing that Quinn Ewers was going to be there,'” Pat McAfee said on Friday.

There are going to be plenty of ups and downs. And Manning would have to be darn near perfect to live up to the insane expectations that most have for him.

But the way he’s going about it makes us believe that he could certainly get close.
