In recent years, sports franchises in the United States have engaged in an ever-escalating arms race involving the culinary creations peddled inside their stadiums and arena, and the Arizona Cardinals may have unleashed the equivalent of the atomic bomb with a cotton candy burrito they’re planning to sell this season.
As far as I’m concerned, one of the best parts of attending a sporting event is throwing caution, calorie counts, and fiscal responsibility to the wind and treating yourself to the stadium food that simply hits different when you’re chowing down in the stands.
While concessions don’t tend to be the main attraction for fans who decide to make the trek to a game in person, many teams have still gone to great lengths to set themselves apart from the pack with unique and over-the-top offerings that are seemingly designed to go viral online (thanks in no small part to Darren Rovell’s inability to not tweet about any remotely intriguing innovation a venue whips up).
For example, the Kansas City Royals were able to drum up some free publicity last month with the help of the “Taste of the K Taco,” which features a hot dog wrapped in a cheeseburger quesadilla and toppings that include brisket, French fries, and sriracha Cracker Jacks.
Now, the Arizona Cardinals have seen that hand-held heart attack and raised it with the diabetes-inducing delivery vehicle that is the Cotton Candy Burrito that will be available when the 2024 NFL season gets underway at State Farm Stadium based on a tweet that was shared by a member of its media relations team.

According to Sports Illustrated, the burrito features a “tortilla” made of cotton candy filled with cotton candy-flavored ice cream along with sprinkles, marshmallows, gummy bears, M&Ms, and a couple of cereals in the form of Fruity Pebbles and Froot Loops.
It doesn’t appear the team has decided to release a calorie count or other nutritional information, but if that’s something you take into consideration before ordering food, you’re probably not the target audience.
