Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek decided it was in the school’s best interest to retain Sam Pittman for the 2025 college football season. A large portion of the Razorbacks’ fanbase does not agree.

They spent the last 24 hours blowing up their athletic director’s cellphone with demands for him to fire their head coach after his number leaked online.

Pittman, 63, was hired in 2020 after previously serving as an offensive line coach at schools like Georgia, North Carolina, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Cincinnati and a few others. He is currently set to return for his sixth season as the head coach in Fayetteville. However, Arkansas has won less than 50% of games during his tenure so far.

  • 2020: 3-7
  • 2021: 9-4 (Outback Bowl win)
  • 2022: 7-6 (Liberty Bowl win)
  • 2023: 4-8
  • 2024: 6-6 (Liberty Bowl bid)

Even though Sam Pittman went .500 this season while on the hot seat, Yurachek decided to bring him back for another fall. A mass exodus to the transfer portal has since ensued.

23 Razorbacks have announced their plans to leave the program since the beginning of October. That number might continue to grow in the coming days and weeks.

In lieu of this frustrating trend, fans are calling for Pittman’s head even louder than before. They somehow got ahold of Yurachek’s phone number earlier this week. It has since spread like wildfire throughout Arkansas’ larger burner community.

Razorbacks fans have bombarded their athletic director with texts over the last 36 hours. Messages include:

“Fire Sam”

“Call me if you need any guidance in hiring or firing”

“Would you please take another job already or fire this lame duck coach!”

Right or wrong, this is what is going down in Fayettville. Hunter Yurachek is getting texts from unknown numbers that are asking him to fire Sam Pittman. Will it work? That is yet to be determined.

Pittman is currently recovering from hip surgery. Arkansas will play its bowl game on December 27.

It is hard to fire a college football coach after the recruiting cycle and transfer portal window have already passed. Enough public outcry could make that happen anyway. Or not.
