All of the negative stereotypes do not apply Arkansas State University chancellor Todd Shields’ wife, Karen. The students love her, the community loves her, social media loves her and the college football team loves her!

Some people might refer to Karen Shields as an “influencer” or “momfluencer.”

Either title would be fair, but she isn’t constantly spamming your feed with paid partnerships. The 50ish-year-old amassed more than 75,000 followers on TikTok and nearly 20,000 followers on Instagram by sharing an inside look at her life. It probably helps that her and Todd’s daughter was Miss America 2017.

Anyway, Shields’ most recent video gives major 2019 LSU vibes. Gemi Bordelon went extremely viral for getting the gat with the Tigers in the White House after winning the national championship.

The only difference is that the Red Wolves have not won anything, yet. Butch Jones was hired to replace Blake Anderson in 2021 and inherited a dumpster fire. He won two games in his first year, three in year two and six last year. The program seems to be trending in the right direction and another bowl game is considered the floor for 2024 with Jaylen Raynor back at quarterback.

Week 1 is already just a few weeks away, so Arkansas State football players got back to campus last week for fall camp. They had their kick-off banquet on Friday and Shields was in attendance.

The Chancellor’s wife recruited a group of players to join in on a viral trend for TikTok, where they dance to a song from the 1980s. They boogied down in a similar manner to LSU and Bordelon five+ years ago.

Shields promised that there is “more to come,” which is great news. These kinds of videos are exactly what we need to get us through this next month before college football is finally back!
