A’s ownership is being accused of using a promotion to try to get the teams fans to leave the stadium early at the team’s final game in Oakland.

As if it isn’t bad enough that the Oakland Athletics’ owner John Fisher has been accused of shamelessly price-gouging fans for what is expected to be a sold-out crowd, now he is being accused of trying to kick them out before the game is even over.

The promotion, initially announced back in April, was originally described as giving the first 25,000 fans in attendance at the team’s final Oakland game a replica of the Oakland Coliseum.

That also ticked Oakland A’s fans off with some suggesting that they all show up ad pack the house on Sept. 24, the day before the final game, and leave the Mausoleum empty on Sept. 25, thus sticking the A’s with 25,000 replicas of the stadium.

Now, however, the actual promotion has been revealed to be slightly different.

Instead of the first 25,000 fans getting a replica of Oakland Coliseum, the first 25,000 fans will receive an exit voucher good for one Replica Coliseum giveaway (while supplies last), according to a Athletics fan on Reddit who received an email with that message.

On top of that, another Oakland A’s fan said they noticed that “pre-paid parking passes do not guarantee a parking spot” at the game.

That means that unless you are one of the first 25,000 people to leave the game that day, you will not receive your replica stadium (and may have a very long walk to your car).

Then again, as one fan on Reddit observed, “I mean, it’s a decent solution to not wanting to give people something to throw until they’re out of the Coliseum.”

They may have a point there.

“I thinks [sic] they’re less worried about them being thrown on the field and more worried that they’ll be thrown up towards the owner’s suite,” someone else suggested.

They too may be on to something.
